The Blue Cape of Cinema
"Art & Cinema" at La Mostra Venice, August 2003
The Blue Cape of Cinema
is an ephemeral monument inhabited by 12 persons
the time of each performance. Each action consists of a march
parade
in a city and a place of a designated country.
During the processing of the parade, the inhabitants of the Cape
will change masks and identities.
The Blue Cape of Cinema, my latest mobile, ephemeral and living
monument,
is dedicated to cinema, to those who have made cinema,
have contributed to your/my knowledge of cinema, it is also a
travel cape...
Its journey begins at the Mostra in Venice on the beach of the
Lido just opposite
The Hotel des Bains, a cult space in memory of Visconti, Dirk
Bogarde, of Death in Venice.
On that footbridge of the Lido, at nightfall, the cape marches
slowly, accompanied by its music. The 12 inhabitants of the communal
garment several times change masks inscribed with the names of
films, actors, directors. At the end of this act, the performers
take off the cape
which becomes a giant screen upon which are projected
the names of around one hundred and fifty films...
